Have you ever felt anxiety freeze and become stuck in your body? You might rationally go about your day after this happens, but the anxiety is still there, whirling around inside of you, like a tornado.
This common yet debilitating response is an energetic vortex that can reek havoc on your body and soul. Imagine that you’re driving 100 miles per hour. The accelerator is pressed firmly to the floor of the car. Simultaneously you stomp on the break while pushing on the gas. Both opposing energies throw the car into a spin. This tornado effect of energy is what happens the when you experience symptoms of trauma.
Trauma is a modern day pervasive fact. We all will and have experienced it at one time or another in our lives. Most of us have been traumatized, not just soldiers of war or survivors of abuse or an attack. Both sources and consequences of trauma are often hidden from our awareness. These include but are not limited to natural disasters, exposure to violence, accidents, falls, surgeries, pervasive emotional abuse, and serious illnesses; and the symptoms of these are the traumas are anxiety, depression, and PTSD, just to name a few.
The nervous systems of those who suffer from anxiety and depression are frozen in a state of suspended animation. As humans we are unable to let go of this energy, unlike animals who literally shake to release the residual energy.
The good news, is that there is a way to release the energy through the felt sense, of bodily sensations!
Anxiety and despair can be deeply creative portals when you allow yourself to feel these bodily sensations. Within the symptoms of your emotional pain are the very energies, potentials, and desires necessary for constructive transformation!
My work with you is to help you begin to acutely understand your body’s trapped energy and how you can learn to release and let go of anxiety and trauma.
